This was a proper monsoon. I have slept in the rain many times in the past, but this was different. All the other times it was just a regular hard rain, but this was like the sky was angry at me and trying to punish me for something I did. I laid in the tent and listened for a while in sort of a half sleep trance. Eventually I fell back asleep.

I woke up and the rain had stopped. Not only that, but it didn’t look like any water had gotten into my tent. I went outside and saw that the dirt patch I was sleeping in (thanks KOA) was now just a giant mud pit. Superb. I moved my stuff over to a pavilion one at a time and then packed up my drenched everything in there.

I set off, went through Bluffton again, and then promptly got a rear flat outside of town. I fixed it, and three people stopped to check on me, shattering the old record of one in Utah. Thanks people of Indiana! Anyway, it only set me back a half hour, and then I was back on my way again.

I crossed into Ohio around 20 miles into the day and stopped for breakfast. As I got to the only restaurant in Willshire, OH, I spoke to an elderly gentleman outside for a while. We talked about the usual things I have to talk about when people stop me, and then he talked about the town and the restaurant for a while. It was pretty nice, and he told me where to sit so that his daughter could serve me. Inside I chatted for a little with the people in the restaurant and got my usual mammoth diner breakfast.

Nice, only three state crossings left.

I left and headed along the Ohio 81 (the equivalent of the Indiana 124… sometimes the numbers of roads change when they change states). I was a little surprised going into town though… I would say that Lima is an actual small city. It had a downtown and high rises and everything.
